Eight years ago today Southbridge Fellowship launched its first public worship service at the Brier Creek Movie Theater. We had one service that day. We only had 30 children in Bridge Kids and 11 adult volunteers. There were 179 adults in the worship gathering. I remember being nervous to preach. I remember the music started playing and it was clear the musicians were not all playing the same song. The worship leader that day had to start over, which is ironic for a church that emphasizes a God of second chances. It didn’t go exactly as planned, but it was the beginning of something special that has changed my life and has changed the lives and eternities of many others.
I am thankful to serve as the Lead Pastor at this special place alongside other incredible people who I thank God for continually. The future looks bright. We have grown in almost every way imaginable. We have grown numerically in staff, members, and attenders. We have grown spiritually in maturity. We have grown in our leadership and service. We have grown financially. By God’s grace we have remained unified in our simple vision of connecting people to Jesus for life change. Lord willing we will break ground this summer on our first ever permanent facility and step into a new phase of the life For our church.
God has been incredibly gracious to us. Will you pray with and for us today?
God, please keep allowing us to sense your presence and experience your transformation. Please keep changing lives.
- Let us watch You save more people from an eternity apart from You.
- Let us see lukewarm believers become passionate about You.
- Let us see more people trapped by past and present sin set free.
- Let us see more relationships reconciled, more grace extended, more forgiveness given and received, more good news shared, more prayers answered and more of Your glory.
Happy birthday Southbridge Fellowship church family. I love you and look forward to even more in the days ahead.
