Letting the World Know: Baptism October 2013

October 1, 2013 0 comments

On October 13th 2013 Southbridge Fellowship will be having our first ever outdoor worship service. This will be a special time for our church where our entire congregation can gather together for one service (10:00am). During this time together we are going to be celebrating baptism with those who are ready to publicly declare their faith to the World.

I will be preaching a shorter sermon than normal and following the message we will be baptizing everyone who is ready to tell the world they are a follower of Jesus. I remember one young man that we baptized saying that, “getting baptized is like putting on your varsity jacket. You are already on the team, but when you put the jacket on you are letting everyone else know.” We see Jesus getting baptized in the New Testament as a way of identifying with the message that John the Baptist was preaching. After placing his faith in Jesus we see an Ethiopian Eunuch ask the simple question; “Look, here is water. Why shouldn’t I be baptized?”

Let me ask you; Why shouldn’t you be baptized? If you have placed your faith in Jesus Christ you are on the team. We are now giving you an opportunity to let the World know you are a follower of Jesus.

If you are interested in being baptized, you can sign up here.

Jesus said that when we make disciples we should baptize them (Matthew 28:19-20). We have prepared this video for those who would like to learn more about baptism.
